Fall Crafting . . .

Kiersen and I did some fall crafting in September.  We tried a few crafts that failed, but the turkey and pumpkin crafts turned out nice!

Time for Pumpkins!

On a whim we decided to stop by this cute pumpkin stand on Saturday.  The kids picked out their pumpkins for carving this year and they were so happy.  Finding the 'perfect' pumpkins was not easy because they had lots of great ones.  Later that evening we stopped at our favorite mum shop and now we're all decorated for fall.  Bring on the cooler weather!

Collecting Pumpkin Seeds...

Well this is one job the kids love doing . . . . they collected all the pumpkins in their wagon and took it to the 'collecting station'.  Kaiden was in charge of smashing the pumpkins and Kiersen collected all the seeds from the pumpkins so we have some to plant next year.  They spent over an hour yesterday working diligently!

The Pumpkin Slayer...

What do you get when you have old pumpkins and a stick you can use to beat them with?  One happy boy!  Kaiden - my lil' pumpkin slayer.

Harvesting Pumpkins...

Well - today was the day we decided to harvest our pumpkin patch.  We had a very dry spring, so our pumpkins left a lot to be desired this year, but we had a good time anyway.  The kids love toting them around in their wagon and helping me decorate.  The leaves have already started to change a bit up here on the mountain (thanks again in part to the dry spring).  With the cooler mornings and dark evenings, it's certainly feeling like fall is in the air!

Harvesting the Pumpkins!

This is the pumpkin the kids chose for Remmy this year.  They always put so much thought into who gets which pumpkin.

Kaidens 'big' pumpkin

I was just waiting for my rusty ol' wagon to fall apart...these pumpkins were heavy!

Yesterday we decided to harvest our pumpkin crop (because I like it when my pumpkins are still a little green looking).  We didn't get very many pumpkins this year, but we did get one large one, which Kaiden will be carving into a jack-o-lantern in October.
