A Letter to Klide & Santa . . .

A few weeks ago Kiersen wrote a special letter to her elf, Klide telling him our tree was set up and asking him to come early.  I love the part where she says 'You are the best elf ever.  You make everything magical'.  Last night she set out her letting for Santa, and guess who came to get it....that's right - Klide!  She is so happy!

I just realized I had these on my camera from the morning of Kiersen's first competition.  Klide left her a little message, and Brooklynn drove with us to the competition. 

Letters to Santa . . .

The kids just couldn't wait any longer for Klide to arrive, so on Monday they sent their letters to Santa, hoping he would arrive just a few days early.  It worked!  He's back!

He's back!  Klide arrived this week and the kids couldn't be more happy!  Welcome back little buddy!

Klide's Back & He Brought Some Reindeer Pets!

Klide returned to our house on Thursday with a special surprise for the kids from the North Pole! They each got an Elf Pet Reindeer!  Kaiden named his Windee Tyler and Kiersen named hers Sparkle Sunlight.  They have been carrying around those reindeer non-stop since they got them.  No doubt in my mind these little guys are going to be part of Santa's Reindeer Team on Christmas Eve!

Klide is Back!

Guess who's back?!!?!?  Our Elf on the Shelf, Klide.  The kids are so excited!  That sneaky lil' guy snatched up their letters to Santa (and the necklace Kiersen made for the 'big guy' too).  I bet he's taking them to the North Pole tonight!  Kaiden was sure he saw him move this morning while he was eating his breakfast, and Kiersen was all smiles as she kept waving to him and saying 'hi Klide, we missed you'.

A Trap for Klide...

Although Kiersen could almost care less about our Elf on the Shelf (now known as Mr. Klide), Kaiden is completely opposite.  He's obsessed with finding his hiding spots as soon as he wakes up in the morning, and also really wants to 'catch' him when he flies up the chimney to go to the North Pole each night.  He and I are both wondering if star dust appears when he flies.  As tricky as Kaiden and I might be, we still haven't gotten a glimpse of his elf magic.  The first night we had Klide, Kaiden decided to set a 'trap' (see picture #1 above).  His thought was to put Klide on top of his marble chaser with a marble on top of him so that when he moved the marble would come down the chaser and wake Kaiden up.  He was so proud of himself when he turned out the lights.  Klide is tricky though, and the next morning, we found him riding on the moose above my Kitchen sink.  Wonder how he did it....he must really be a magic elf!

Kaiden wanted to write the elf's name, but Kiersen also wanted to help!

This morning the kids woke up to discover that, while they were sleeping last night, Santa had delivered to them an 'Elf on the Shelf'.  They were SO excited and Kaiden hasn't stopped carrying it around since the box was opened.  They named him Clyde, but wanted to spell it with a 'K' like their names, so our brand new elf's name is Klide.  The magic starts tonight, so Kaiden will no longer be allowed to touch him, but we're all looking forward to finding him in the morning.  Kaiden thinks he's going to hide in tricky places, since he can tell he's a 'bit of a tricky elf'.  We'll see :)
