Just as Kaiden and Kiersen (and momma) got over the stomach flu from last week, on comes another round for Kiersen, which meant another day off of work and another day to spend with my little people. Since Kiersen only wanted to be cuddled, it made it a little difficult to spend any time playing with Kaiden, so I decided to scoop up some snow from the yard and make him is own little play area at the Kitchen sink. What a blast he had....two hours later he was still playing in it! I should've known, I guess....anything to do with cars is perfect for Kaiden!

Flowers from Dad . . .
On Thursday my dad stopped by my office and surprised me with a dozen beautiful, reddish-orange roses. Love that guy!

Big Girl Bed?!!?! (Don't get too excited)
Today Kiersen was super excited about the bottom bunk for some reason. At nap time, she ran back to her room crawled up in it and said 'cober' (aka cover). Then she insisted on having her baby and she rolled over almost as if she was going to go to sleep. I didn't know how I'd keep her from falling out, so I scooped her up and put her in her crib. After some thinking, we decided to rig up some safety blankets (which would later become Kaiden's racetrack) and move the room around so she couldn't get hurt on anything. Let's just say it took way more time for us to think up all these safety measures and switch the room around than it took her to crawl right back out of the bed tonight. So much for her 'big girl' bed. Maybe we'll try again next year!
The New Racetrack . . .
| Kaiden Rigging Up the 'Track' |
| She's got her cars ready . . . |
Tonight Kaiden got the idea that his racetrack he got for Christmas wasn't near exciting enough, so he decided to create a racetrack of his own - using his bunkbed and a few sheets. He and Kiersen had a blast with it...I can't even count how many times they raced those cars down that 'track'! Guess I know what we'll be playing tomorrow too!

Introducing Rowan Elizabeth...
She's here! My brother, Steve, and his girlfriend, Amanda, had their little girl, Rowan Elizabeth, on Wednesday, 01/30. Today we went for a visit. How quickly you forget just how little and precious they are. I love her already! Congratulations Steve. You're going to make such a good dad.
K-A-I-D-E-N
Our little man struggles with writing. It's his biggest mountain to climb, and the journey to the top of that mountain can be very frustrating for him. We've been working really hard with him and tonight for the first time ever he wrote his name (on the bathtub wall). He was so excited when he completed that last letter and was smiles for the rest of the night.
Marshmallow Pops . . .
By looking at this blog you'd think all I do is bake, cook and decorate with the kids. That's really not true, but we do enjoy creating in the Kitchen, and it seems like that's when I remember to pick up my camera. Today we decided to try marshmallow pops, since I'm planning on making them for the kids' Valentine's Party coming up in two weeks. As expected, the kids weren't too interested in helping once they got their hands on the first pops I dipped in chocolate. They were fun to make and turned out cute, but man did I have a huge mess to clean up when I was done!
Just Acting Silly....
Being a parent is hard....it's the hardest job I've ever had to do....much harder than writing contracts and much harder than filling HuckleBee orders. Sometimes they make me laugh and some times they make me want to cry (or scream), but ALL the time they make me happy.
Coloring with Cu-PIG . . .
Kenny's mom got the kids a pig dressed like cupid that dances around and sings the 'cu-pig shuffle'. Kiersen absoluately loves this pig and can't help dancing every time she hears him sing.....so, he had to join us at the table while we were coloring valentine pictures this week. Kiersen colored and danced the whole time. Kaiden insisted that I print him a cupid for him to color, and then ended up drawing a target for his bow and arrow. I've said it before and I'll say it again....there's no chance in the world this kid isn't going to be a hunter!
