Yesterday Kaiden turned 12, and he wanted to go to his favorite place to celebrate the day with friends.  So we loaded up his friend, Logan, and Kiersen's friend, Zoey, and we headed to Hickory Run State Park to swim at the lake beach.  It was so very hot which made it the perfect day to be in the water.  Kaiden of course enjoyed catching catfish, minnows and tad poles the best.  We finished up the night with pizza and oreo cookie ice cream cake.  Tonight we went to Red Lobster for his actual birthday dinner, since last night we were all too tired after a long day in the sun.  Happy Birthday Kaiden Tyler.  I love you more than words could ever say!

Beauty & Her Beast (aka Logan) . . .

On Friday Kiersen got to dress up for the school's Halloween Parade/Reward Day.  When we got to the bus stop that morning I had to laugh because our neighbor (Logan) was dressed in a scary mask, and she immediately said 'Logan's my beast'.  Beauty & the Beast!

First Day of School 2018 . . .

Every year on this day I typically reflect on how quickly time goes by.  This year is no different.  Each summer seems to go faster than the last.  Kaiden is starting a new adventure in middle school this year.  He tried to downplay how he was feeling, but he was pretty nervous.  He must've said a hundred times, 'I just hope I can find my classes'.  I tried to tell him that he will be fine and that every 5th grader would be feeling nervous on their first day, but I know that did little to calm him down.  Kiersen was just as nervous today because it's the first time she'd be riding the bus without her brother.  Thankfully she has Logan (our neighbor) which helped a bit.  She said 'my heart is beating so fast, I've never been this nervous'.  Here's to hoping the kids have a fabulous school year!

Halloween Reward Day at School . . .

Today the kids had a fall reward day at school.  They were so excited to dress up in their Halloween best!  If Kiersen's costume looks familiar, it's because Kaiden has worn in 2 or 3 times before too.  That bat costume has been a really favorite around our house.  Kaiden wanted it very badly and I bought it kicking and screaming because it was so expensive.  But....after 4 years of use, I really can't complain...it ended up being the cheapest Halloween costume I've purchase.  Ava also came dressed as a hunter, and Logan came dressed as a werewolf.  

Last Day of School!

Yesterday was the kids' last day of school.  So now I officially have a 1st grader and a 4th grader.  We had their friend, Logan, over for pizza and snow cones on the deck.  We also played water balloons and water guns.  I think the moms got more wet than anyone!
