07-07 - Stone Veneer!

So the garage is getting super close to being finished.  I think the contractors should be done with their work starting this week.  We will still have some work to do though - shutters; painting the door; prettying up the site; interior electric, insulation, wall board and flooring on the second level.

06-23 - Garage Doors!

Today Shenk Door came to install our garage doors.  I love them, but I can't wait to get the stone veneer and my shutters to add some color to the garage!

06-20 - Concrete Apron Outside Garage

Yesterday the contractor poured the concrete outside of the garage.  One more piece (garage doors) until the Echternach Construction Crew takes over with the interior work.

06-19 - Stairs & Door . . .

Today the contractors installed the interior stairway leading up to the kids' playroom.  As you can see from the first picture, they're super excited about it.  Kiersen's already talking about putting a carpet at the bottom of the stairs 'for pretty', and they already have a 'no shoes in the playroom' rule, and we didn't even get the carpeting done yet.  They also installed the side door, and prepped for the concrete apron, which is scheduled to be poured tomorrow.  There's no too much left to do anymore!

06-16 - Gutters Installed

On Friday the gutters, leaf guards and downspouts were installed.  Next week the side door will be hung, the stairs will be built to the second floor, the knee wall will be built on the second floor and the garage doors will be installed.

06-14 - Concrete Floor Poured!

Yesterday the concrete floor was poured, and today they put the sealer on it.  One step closer to being done!

06-08 - My Pediment is Up!

One of the main reasons we picked this garage originally was because we (okay - by 'we', I mean 'I') fell in love with the big cedar gable pediment.  Today that piece was installed.  The siding and roofing also completed today, and the electrician installed our exterior lighting.

06-06 - Windows, Cantilever Roof & Radiant Heat . . .

Today the contractor installed the cantilever roof above the garage doors, installed the windows and ran the radiant heat.  Because I'm trying to keep these posts positive, I am not including the photos of the bad things that happened today.  Tomorrow should be fun....or maybe not.

06-05 - Insulation & Wire Mesh . . .

Today the contractors put down the insulation for the radiant heating and the wire mesh on the first floor.  Later this week they'll be installing windows, siding and roofing!

06-02 - Garage Progress . . .

Windows have been cut out on the second floor, and flooring has been laid.  The kids are so excited because now they can see what their space will look like.

06-01 - Second Floor Framing Complete

On Thursday the workers built our second story!

First Floor Framing . . .

Today when I got home from the kids' field day, our garage started to look like a garage.  First floor framing is done.  I'm excited to see what they'll accomplish tomorrow!

Backfilling . . .

The excavator was on site today to do the backfilling.  They also delivered all the lumber, windows and door today.  Tomorrow they're starting framing!

Foundation Walls!

Block work went in on Friday for the garage.  Next step - backfilling and framing!

We Have Footers!

Today the contractor poured the garage footers.  Tomorrow there won't be any progress because no one will be on site, but Friday they are going to start laying the block.

Construction Has Started!

The Site Before the Contractors Arrived

After 7 loads of fill, we have a site pad.  Footers tomorrow!

Our construction sign!

Well, after years of wanting a garage, today that dream is underway.  Trailside Contractors came this morning and got the job started.  Since I have a hard time visualizing things, I was super excited to see the garage lined out.  It's starting to feel 'real'.
