H for Hippo!

Today we made hippos.  Don't worry...their teeth are made of marshmallows so if you get bitten it won't hurt too badly.  I even ended up making one, since I'm starting to see that the kids really enjoy it when I participate in craft time too.  As you can see the kids were in their bathing suits (even though we didn't go slip-n-sliding till the afternoon)...I told them it was okay, since hippos liked to swim!

Look Who Got His Hunting License!!!

Look out animals - Kaiden's got his hunting license and he's ready to shoot!  This will be the first year he gets to go out for deer with daddy.  He's super excited!

Our Picnic with Blanche...

On Thursday we had a picnic lunch as Sweet Arrow Lake with 'Blanchey'.  Because it rained the night before, the waterfall was really flowing.  We ate lunch, took a walk, went down by the lake and played at the playground.  It was a beautiful day - not too hot and very breezy.  To complete our day we stopped for slushies!  Hope we can do this again soon.

Peaches & Grandma Bread!

This morning we decided to have peaches and 'grandma bread' on the back deck.  Of course Kiersen also had to water the flowers (one of her favorite things to do).  Our breakfast gave us energy to go for a walk, play at the park and go swimming!  What a fun, relaxing day we had.

F is for Fire Fly!

Yesterday our craft theme was a fire fly!  I was very excited about this one because you put a tea light in the body of the fire fly and it 'glows'.  I thought it would be perfect for their room at night.  It was a cute idea, but they were difficult for little fingers to make, and their eyes fell off within two hours. Well....okay, in all fairness their eyes probably feel off because the kids thought the fire flies should not only glow, but also actually fly down the stairs!  Poor little smashed up fire flies!

Slip-N-Slide Fun...

On Saturday I found this really neat slip-n-slide at the grocery store.  Kaiden and Kiersen loved the shark mouth on it, and how you end up in a ship filled with water at the end.  I think they would've slid for hours if we would've let them!

E is for 'EYE'glasses...

I still cannot stop laughing as I look at these pictures.  Today we did our "E" craft...silly EYEglasses. The kids had fun with this one (especially Kaiden).

Crystal Cave...

Even though they say when your head gets dripped on it's good luck, Kaiden wasn't liking it!

Today we took a road trip to Crystal Cave in Kutztown.  It was a nice little place nestled in the middle of no where.  The cave was 52 degrees, so when we stepped out into the 90 degree temperature it felt pretty hot!  I'm not sure what the kids liked best - the cave or the panning for gem stones we did after the tour.  Probably the gemstones because now they have a bag full of 'treasures'.
