Chicken Pot Pie...

On Saturday the kids and I decided to make some homemade chicken pot pie for dinner.  They always have so much fun when we're working in the kitchen.

Kiersen thought she just had to put the eggs in all by herself; and, although I should've known better, I let her try.  Let's just say I was picking egg shells out of the bowl for about 10 minutes because she decided it would be much better to just squeeze the eggs over the bowl!

Thanks to my little helpers, the pot pie turned out wonderful (okay, okay - still not as good as mom's pot pie, but I'm getting better).  They even cut the noodles in the shapes of stars, hearts, peppers and pumpkins!

How Sweet...

Today I went for groceries, at first Kaiden wanted to stay home with his daddy, but then he realized he had some birthday money he could spend, so he decided to come along.  When we arrived, and headed for the toy section, I quickly realized that it was going to be hard for me to make Kiersen understand that Kaiden would be getting a toy because it was his birthday, but that she would have to wait until it was her birthday to pick out something special.

As we were looking at the boy isles for the 'perfect toy' for Kaiden, Kiersen kept saying 'I want a baby....I want to get a baby mommy'.  All of the sudden, Kaiden looks up from the toy he had in his hand and said 'okay Kiersen, you can have a baby, I'll buy it for you with my birthday money'.  I was so impressed with him, I could've just sqeezed him to pieces!  So with his birthday money he got some really cool things for himself, but also bought his little sister a new baby.  She was so happy when he handed it to her that she hugged and kissed him right there.....definately a proud momma moment :)

Beach Trip 2013...

Kaiden's not only clamming....he's also horseshoe crabbin!

Unsure of the water at first...

Just got back from our long weekend at the beach.

The weather was hot (high 90's), but the kids had a really nice time.  We went for a boat ride, went clamming, played at Rehoboth and Lewes Beaches, went to the Candy Kitchen, ate at Grotto's Pizza and went for rides on the boardwalk.

Kaiden's birthday was on Friday, so we tried to make the day a little extra special for him with his 'Charmander' cake.  (I still can't believe he's 6!!!)  He also found a shark tooth in the sand, which was very neat!

We decided to leave Saturday evening, so the kids slept most of the way.  Kaiden only woke up for about 30 seconds....long enough that he could say 'I smell a skunk' and then fell back to sleep.  So glad we decided to leave then and not Sunday morning.  It was nice because it gave me the full day to get laundry done, bags unpacked and get my home reorganized (geez....after all that I feel like I need another vacation)!!!

Love the beach, but there's nothing like HOME SWEET HOME!

Beware of the Shark!

Early on, Kenny and I decided that we would not have big birthday parties for the kids every year, simply because it costs too much.  So each year we keep it small with cake/ice cream with family only, expect for the 'special' birthdays (1, 5, 10, 13, 16, etc.) - for those birthdays we invite friends.  Every year on Kaiden's birthday we go to the beach, so I don't typically even make cupcakes for him to take to his preschool.  This year a few of his classmates asked me if they could come to Kaiden's birthday party.  Imagine trying to tell a bunch of 5 year olds that we don't have birthday parties because they're too expensive...you should've seen some of the looks I got.  Some of the kids even asked if they could go to Kaiden's 'party at the beach'....so, the guilty mom syndrome set in a little and I decided to bake some 'beachy' cupcakes for tomorrow.  Hopefully these little sharks won't bite anyone!  Two more days and my little man will be 6!  Where have those 6 years gone?!!?!?

Big Girl Bed!

So last night I told Kenny I thought it was soon time for us to convert Kiersen's crib into a 'big girl bed'.  She's been a little monkey lately, and I found her too many times with one leg swung over the top of the crib trying to get out.  This morning Kaiden came running out of the bedroom and told us he had to get sissy back into bed because she was sitting on the railing!  So guess what we did this morning?!!?!?  You guessed it, somebody got a 'big girl bed'.  But....as you can see, she's still busy climbing...at least the fall won't be from quite so high!!!
