GCH Level 6 Gymnastics Banquet . . .

In early June The Gymnastics Center of Hershey had their annual banquet at the Hershey Lodge and Convention Center.  It was a nice night, and the girls had lots of fun dancing together.  On to level 7.

Level 6 State Meet 2021 . . .

Kiersen was so happy when Charlotte, her teammate, arrived and ran over for a big hug.  Love their friendship!

Last weekend Kiersen had her Level 6 State Meet in Easton, PA.  She started out with a rough start on bars with a near fall and only receiving a score of 7.750, but regained her confidence and went on to do very well on the beam, floor (9.475) and vault.  She scored a season high (9.500) on the beam and won 4th place, and also scored a season high (9.150) on vault.  Although she walked away with only one medal, we could not be more proud of her.  She has worked so hard this season to go from a Level 3 to test out of Levels 4 and 5 and move on to Optional Gymnastics - Level 6.  (I will post videos once I download them from my phone)

Giants By Kiersen, Counting by Eliza . . .

At the birthday party this weekend Kiersen was swinging around the bars like a monkey again!  I thought this video was adorable.  Her friend's sister, Eliza, who is 6 was counting for her.  She was counting quickly because she wanted Kiersen to play with her.

Front Flyaway . . .

This weekend Kiersen landed her first front flyaway.  She's done these before, but this is the first time to a mat!  She was at a birthday party, so that's why she wasn't wearing grips.

Double Front Off Trampoline . . .

Kiersen was at a birthday party at the gym this weekend and had so much fun trying new things.  This video shows her doing a double front tuck off the trampoline into the pit.

Cast Giants on Strap Bar (Video) . . .

Kiersen has been getting more and more confident with her giants on the strap bar, and is now casting into them.

Back Handspring, Back Handspring on Beam (New Skill) (Video) . . .

Last week Kiersen did a double back handspring on beam for the first time!

Back Walkover Back Tuck Dismount (New Skill) (Video) . . .

Last night at practice Kiersen did a new dismount for the first time - back walkover back tuck!

Hanover Classic - Floor Routine (Video) . . .

Kiersen got her highest level 6 score last week at the Hanover Classic, with a 9.650!  It's hard to believe, but even with that high of a score she only took 9th place!  Super proud of how far she's come this year!

Hanover Classic - Bars (Video) . . .

Kiersen's hardest even this year is the bars, but each competition her scores seem to improve, and this week she got an 8.800 and took 9th place.  I am super proud of her for going for her handstand!

Hanover Classic - Vault (Videos) . . .

Kiersen's Vaults from the Hanover Classic held last weekend.  She scored an 8.950 (her highest score of the year) and get 8th Place.

Competition Ready!

Just a few photos of Kiersen (our 'little ham') after we sprayed in her hair glitter before this weekend's competition . . . .

Beam Routine (Hugs & Kisses Meet) (Video) . . .

Kiersen's Beam Routine from the Hugs & Kisses Meet.

Floor Routine (Hugs & Kisses Meet) (Video) . . .

Here is Kiersen's Floor Routine from the Hugs & Kisses Meeting on 02/14/21.  Only one person was able to attend because of Kiersen, so Kenny went because he didn't get to go to the first one.

Kiersen's Handstand Back Handspring Series on Beam (Video) . . .

Kiersen recently got her handstand back handspring series on the beam (this is a skill she will need for the next gymnastics level).

Kiersen's Back Tuck on High Beam (Video) . . .

Kiersen recently got her back tuck on the high beam.

Giants on the Strap Bar (Video). . . .

Kiersen has been working on her giants (which is a skill she will need for the next gymnastics level).  It's fun to watch her learning new skills!

Parkette's Invitational . . . .

Kiersen's second competition of the season was the Parkette's Invitational in late January.  We were not allowed to view her competition, so I don't have any photos - just this one when she got home and tried on her new leotard.  She placed 4th on Floor (9.475), 5th on Beam (9.350), 9th on Bars (7.350 - she fell), 11th on vault (8.600) and 8th All Around (34.775).

Katie Baldwin Invitational (Kiersen - Level 6) . . .

Kiersen attended her first Level 6 gymnastics meet in early January.  Unfortunately, due to covid, this was the only meet I got to attend so far this year.  She placed 3rd on Beam (9.350), 7th on Floor (9.150), 8th on Bars (8.000), 11th on Vault (8.350), and 8th All Around (34.850) in the 7-10 age group.  Their team also got first place.

First Series on Beam (Video) . . .

In the world of gymnastics, one of the hardest skills to get around Kiersen's level is what they call a 'series'.  A series is when you combine two skills together (in this case, a handstand back handspring).  Last week Kiersen was thrilled when she got it, so I thought I'd share it here.  I am really proud of her!
