21 Months ~ What a Fun Age!

As Kaiden's rounding the corner to that 'terrible 2' mark everyone talks about, I can't help but hope he'll pass right by that stage like it never existed. I'm sure every mom wishes for that....I just wonder how many of them actually get their wish!

I can't foresee the future, but I can appreciate the present, and right now the 'present' is so much fun!

I love to watch him go off in his own little world when we go outside to play...carrying around sticks, scraping his knees, splashing in puddles.....and then there's that happy screech he gives when we're pulling in the driveway and he realizes daddy is home, or when he's squirting me with the hose....then there are those unexpected kisses....for me, his Remmy, a puppy he sees in a book or his Tigger.....the way he 'helps' me do the housework.....pulling the books off the bookshelf so I can dust, throwing away lint from the dryer or helping me carry out the trash......the new words he's learning, and the ones he's repeating, and the way he's learning new things every day (like somehow finding his way around the gate and up the stairs....and clapping once he's accomplished his climb)....

There are just so many fun things he does, and trying to take it all in and not forget a moment is mind blowing.....but I'm doing the best I can.

I have to say that 21 months is by far my favorite age (although every 'stage' was fun for it's own reasons), so....here's to hoping that the terrible 2's pass us by.

Sticks, Uncle Brad, Remmy & Dandelions

Awhhh....what more could a boy ask for....sticks, Uncle Brad, Remmy and dandelions. (Okay, okay....how about some mud, bugs, water and a turkey call)....

My Turkey Hunters

(Yes, those are turkey feet!!!!!!)

(Guess you know who REALLY shot the turkey now!)

(I know Kenny's excited for the day when he can take Kaiden out turkey hunting)

Last night Kenny was busy gathering up his turkey stuff (calls, guns, camo, etc.) because today was the first day of spring gobbler season. Kaiden and I were upstairs watching Tigger and Pooh. As Kenny started to practice on his calls, Kaiden thought there was a turkey outside and ran to the sliding doors to see if he could see it. I kept telling him it was 'daddy', but he didn't quite understand....until 'daddy' came upstairs and showed him that he was really the 'turkey'. Kaiden was so excited, and so Kenny left him have his slate call to 'practice' on. Needless to say, Kaiden went to bed with the call last night.

Kenny and his brother, Brad, went out at our house this morning. Around 7:30, I heard a gun and knew one of them had gotten one. Shortly after the shot, I heard a turkey - not in the woods though....in Kaiden's bedroom! Yep, that's right, he woke up and immediately started 'calling' on his new slate call. What can I say.....he's a Kenny Jr.!

Kaiden was so excited when he saw the turkey in the yard (so was Remmy, but Remmy was excited for other reasons....to him, it mean FOOD!), and didn't hesitate to walk up and start touching it. He loved the legs......and as you can see by these photos, he even carried them around once Kenny cut them off!

.....I'm guessing he'll probably be a hunter, what do you think?

Look! He's Wearing His Shades!

Today was another beautiful day, so Kaiden, Remmy and I spent much of our time outside in the yard. I can't believe it, but he finally let his sunglasses on! I kept saying 'Kaiden Tyler....you are SOOOO handsome in your shades' - then he'd giggle and take off running! I'm not sure how he could see straight though....looking at these photos, the shades certainly were crooked!

Easter (Part 2)

(Hey! Who put this egg in the magazine rack?)

(Kaiden's cousin, Nikka, searching for eggs)

(This is Kaiden's favorite place at my parents' house - their headboard)

(Kaiden's cousin, Carree)

(I think Kaiden's scoping out his cousin's goodie bag)
(Hum....those two could pass for brothers, huh?)

Well....I didn't end up getting as many photos of Easter (Part 2) as I did Easter (Part 1), thanks to my camera and the fact that the battery only seems to last 10-15 minutes anymore. Kenny says it's because I take WAY too many photos. What do you think?

Anyway....Kenny's been working a lot, so he actually missed out on Kaiden's egg hunt yesterday. Kaiden did pretty good getting the eggs, but he had a lot of help from his cousins. By next year I'm sure he won't need any help at all....
